Owen Morgan

Hello, I am a person centred counsellor and supervisor based in Forest Row. I work with young people and adults online and in person.

Making the decision to seek counselling shows a desire for change. Starting therapy demonstrates a commitment to making those changes happen. I work with clients aged from 14 to 80+ and firmly believe therapy can help us find a different, better way to live.

My previous role as a counsellor at a leading youth charity means I have experience supporting young adults and teenagers. A particular focus of my work has been helping clients overcome anxiety and their self-critic. I currently work with a charity that supports those who have been bereaved through suicide.

As well as young people I work with people dealing with loss and bereavement and those transitioning through difficult stages in their lives, whatever their age. I work with social and general anxiety, depression, addiction, abuse, existential concerns and have undertaken trauma informed training.

I work Tuesday till Saturday afternoon. I do offer concessions to students or those on benefits. My normal rate is £65 a session.

I meet with new clients after an initial phone conversation. Many young people struggle to talk on the phone so I am happy to discuss an initial meeting with their parents or guardians in the first instance. If the young person then agrees to go ahead I charge for this initial session.

My work as a supervisor

I trained for a year as a supervisor and have a CPCAB awarded Level 6 qualification in counselling supervision. I work with counsellors from humanistic modalities, my own background being person-centred. I have worked with trainees as well as qualified counsellors and offer a supportive space to discuss clients as well as the needs of the therapists I work with.

I offer discounted sessions for students and counsellors at the beginning of their therapeutic careers.

Practice description

My supervision practice is underpinned by the seven eyed supervision model and the normative, formative, restorative model developed by Inskipp and Proctor. Using these models and drawing on my own experience of working in private practice and for counselling organisations I work collaboratively with my supervision clients to help them deliver the highest standard of therapy work and to always look to develop themselves as practitioners. I am very focussed on client work but also want to give my supervision clients a confidential space where they can talk through their own experiences, discuss their careers and direction and how the work they are doing can impact them personally. I work in a non-judgemental way and believe the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical principles are in place to guide us as therapists.

My first session

Supervision works best if we both feel we can build a relationship founded on trust and the best interests of your clients. I am not afraid to laugh with my supervisees nor am I afraid to ask difficult questions when it is appropriate. I have benefitted hugely from my own supervision and believe it is absolutely essential to good practice.

With that in mind I offer a free 30 minute zoom call to all supervision enquiries. This time will give us the space to explore what you are looking for from a supervisor and to look at some client work.

It is important we both feel we can work together and this free session gives us the opportunity to test that out.

I can also offer this session in person from my therapy room in Forest Row, East Sussex.
